Elementary School Service Projects

Wheels In Motion

This program awards a bicycle and helmet to local students selected by faculty that demonstrate hard work and good citizenship.  Two students from each of the Portland Area Elementary Schools receive a bicycle each year.  Schools included are: JW Wiseman, Gateview, Watt Hardison, Clyde Riggs, North Sumner, and Oakmont.

Mobile Planetarium

Our Inflatable Mobile Planetarium is On the Move!Starting April 28, after state testing wraps up, our inflatable mobile planetarium will begin visiting schools, bringing exciting, state-standard-aligned space science lessons straight to third-grade classrooms.

Students will step inside the dome to explore the sun, moon, stars, moon phases, and Earth’s rotation — all through an immersive experience designed just for their grade level. The traveling planetarium sparks curiosity and makes learning about space fun, memorable, and hands-on.

Equipped with a high-quality projector and laptop, the planetarium transforms lessons into unforgettable, hands-on STEM experiences that teachers and students are excited about.

Special thanks to Sandra Gaskins, President of Hendersonville Rotary Club, without her vision this project would not have been possible.

Dictionaries for 3rd Graders

Every school year our club presents Portland 3rd graders with their very own dictionaries.  This project is ran in partnership with the Hendersonville Morning Rotary Club.  Our club presents the dictionaries to the 3rd graders at the following schools: JW Wiseman, Gateview, Watt Hardison, Clyde Riggs, North Sumner, and Oakmont.
