The Four Way Test
Since the beginning, Rotary has stood for strong ethical values, and one of the most enduring examples of that is The Four-Way Test. Originally written in 1932 by Rotarian Herbert J. Taylor to help rescue a struggling business, this simple 24-word test became a powerful ethical compass in the workplace. It was officially adopted by Rotary in 1943 and has since been translated into over 100 languages, continuing to shape the way Rotarians think, speak, and act. Today, it’s more than just a set of questions—it’s a way of life grounded in integrity, fairness, and truth. In that spirit, we’re proud to carry on this legacy through our upcoming Four-Way Test Speech Contest, which will take place on April 16, 2025.
