The Storybook Trail at Memorial Park in Hendersonville, Tennessee, is a heartfelt tribute to David "Ace" Harrington, a beloved community member and avid supporter of literacy and family engagement. Spearheaded by his daughter, Tina Harrington Hochman, the trail was established in October 2024 to honor his memory and passion for reading. This half-mile loop begins at the playground entrance and features Josef's Big Dream by Josef Newgarden. The trail invites families to read together while enjoying the natural beauty of the park, blending outdoor activity with storytelling. |
This trail invites families to explore nature while enjoying the story "Where Butterflies Grow" by Joanne Ryder. Along the shaded, paved loop, visitors can read the story on child-height panels, each featuring reading tips to enhance engagement. This trail is part of the Governor’s Early Literacy Foundation’s initiative to promote literacy and outdoor activity across Tennessee

(Currently under unconstruction) This trail begins at the Andrew Jackson Trailhead on Hwy 76 and features "Red House Tree House Little Bitty Brown Mouse" by Jane Godwin. The trail includes 17 metal panels with story pages and interactive questions, perfect for kids ages 3–7. Funded by a grant from the Governor’s Early Literacy Foundation, this semi-permanent trail fosters early reading through outdoor exploration. |
A new addition to Betsy Ligon Park, located just past the playground. It currently features “A Child’s First Bird Guide” by Laurina Lyle, with QR codes on each page allowing families to hear the sounds of featured birds. Funded by the Clarksville-Montgomery County Community Health Foundation and made possible through a partnership with the Clarksville Arts & Heritage Council, this community project was proudly led by Erin Rotary to blend literacy, learning, and outdoor fun.

Located near Couchville Lake, this trail features “The First Strawberries: A Cherokee Story” by Joseph Bruchac. As families walk the gentle loop, they can read the story on child-height panels, each accompanied by reading tips to enhance engagement. This trail combines outdoor activity with early literacy, offering an enriching experience for visitors of all ages.

A recent addition to J.J. McWilliams Old Rock School Park, located just off Enon Springs Road. The trail currently features Red House, Tree House, Little Bitty Brown Mouse by Jane Godwin, displayed along a paved path to encourage families to read together as they walk. Created through a partnership between the Smyrna Public Library, United Way, and the Governor’s Early Literacy Foundation, this project blends literacy and outdoor exploration for the whole community.
